ESO Empire

Templar Healer

Greymoor Patch

Healing in ESO is different from a lot of other MMORPGs in that you must do more than just apply Heal over Time (HoT) skills and use burst heal skills. You must be able to maintain your own resources and buffs while also buffing and sustaining your group, and debuffing your enemies.

Templar Healers are one of the most beginner friendly classes to learn how to heal while still being top tier in late game content. Templars have some amazing HoT skills, allie buffs, and enemy debuffs at their disposal.

It’s best to invest all available points into Magicka. This is because more than just your resource pools are affected by your Attributes. Your Max Magicka stat also increases how much healing your skills do in combat. Perhaps the most important takeaway is that your Attributes are impacted by your Champion Level, and will continue to increase until CP300.

Purple CP150-160 Food

Purple CP150-160 Food is crafted food in ESO, and can only be found otherwise in Guild Stores crafted by another player. This food is best used if you want large resource pools. You may find this most useful in Dungeons and Trials if you’re using Power of the Light over Purifying Light (Morphs of Backlash) from the Dawn’s Wrath skill line.

Bewitched Sugar Skulls

Bewitched Sugar Skulls is crafted food in ESO, and can only be found otherwise in Guild Stores crafted by another player. This food is best used if you want large resource pools and you can afford it. You may find this most useful in Dungeons and Trials if you’re using Power of the Light over Purifying Light (Morphs of Backlash) from the Dawn’s Wrath skill line. This food is slightly better than Purple CP150-160 Food.

Witchmother's Potent Brew

Witchmother’s Potent Brew is a crafted drink in ESO, and can only be found otherwise in Guild Stores crafted by another player. Only use this food if you find your Magicka sustain is lacking.

Essence of Magicka

Essence of Magicka are generic potions found in ESO as they can drop from a variety of sources. You will often come across plenty of these during a regular play session. Use these during non-Veteran content to help you get into the habit of using a potion on cooldown and to give yourself a quick bump to your Magicka resource pool.

Essence of Spell Power

Essence of Spell Power are crafted potions in ESO, and can only be found otherwise in Guild Stores crafted by another player. Use these during Veteran content to help sustain and provide yourself with necessary buffs.

Useful Skills

Crushing Shock

Crushing Shock (Morph of Force Shock) from the Destruction Staff skill line is very useful in some instances where many enemies need to be interrupted such as Hel Ra Citadel. Using this skill while your HoT/DoT skills are active will add to your overall group damage and could help your Tank with their sustain.

Puncturing Sweep

Puncturing Sweep (Morph of Puncturing Strikes) from the Aedric Spear skill line is a great way to add to your overall group damage while running light content. However, you should always prioritize your group and enemy debuffs.

Efficient Purge

Efficient Purge (Morph of Purge) from the Support skill line is a high cost ability that allows you to remove Negative Effects from yourself and your group. While this skill is not run often, it’s recommended due to being irreplaceable in the areas it’s needed, such as Halls of Fabrication. It has use in some Dungeons and other Trials as well to purge strong Flame and Poison DoTs.

Replenishing Barrier

Replenishing Barrier (Morph of Barrier) from the Support skill line offers many stacking Damage Shields for your entire group while also providing yourself with some additional benefits. Most times you will be using Aggressive Horn, but in some cases where your group needs high survival, Replenishing Barrier is the way to go.

Solar Prison

Solar Prison (Morph of Nova) from the Dawn’s Wrath skill line is great DoT Ultimate that offers a burst of damage through a Synergy that an ally can activate. However, the main reason we use this is for the Major Maim. Templars are one of the only ways to apply Major Maim in ESO and can save your group!

Trials

Trials are endgame content in the Elder Scrolls Online designed for groups of 12.
Each Trial has a Normal and Veteran mode, however, we’ll be focusing on Veteran Trials in this section of the guide.

Dungeons

Dungeons feature large groups of enemies that are typically tougher than others found in Overland content.
Many bosses have unique mechanics that need to be managed by the whole group.
Each Dungeon has a Normal and Veteran mode. We’ll be focused on Veteran Dungeons, however, much of this guide applies to Normal Trials.

Champion Points

Below is a general overview for CP810

The Mage Constellation

The current allocation of Mage Champion Points is optimized for strong healing while still being able to do some DPS. As a Healer, your main job is to buff allies and debuff enemies while keeping your group members alive. Contributing to your groups overall DPS can speed a Dungeon or Trial along that much faster. However, you should never prioritize DPS over buffing and healing your allies, or debuffing enemies.

The Thief Constellation

The current allocation of Thief Champion Points is optimized for great passive Magicka Recovery while also being able to gain bursts of Magicka on Heavy Attacks. Some points are invested in Bashing Focus to help the Tank with interrupting spell casters and other ranged enemies or to help with other Bash mechanics in general.

Useful Sets

Below is a list of useful gear sets for all Healers
Easy to obtain | Challenging to obtainHard to obtain

Notes

Kagrenac’s Hope – A solid beginner set, however, in later content Healers do not typically resurrect unless absolutely necessary. This set is commonly used in Veteran Black Rose Prison (vBRP).

Curse Eater – A good alternative set for dealing with Poison DoT effects in Veteran Halls of Fabrication (vHoF).

Earthgore – Not as commonly used since it has been nerfed, but still useful in some content such as Veteran Black Rose Prison (vBRP).

Sentinel of Rkugamz – Widely used in late game content due to its easy proc chance. A great sustain set for the entire group, however, the position of the dwemer spider can be sometimes unreliable. Definitely worth obtaining even if you have the Symphony of Blades set to prevent redundant sets in Trials.

Symphony of Blades – The best sustain set Healers have available to them, however, it is difficult to obtain. With the most recent patch (Greymoor), this set was altered to target each group member independently on cooldown, meaning only one Healer has to use this set during Trials.

Sanctuary – A solid beginner set since it is easy to obtain. This set is most commonly used in PvP activities.

Spell Power Cure – A great alternative set to (Perfect) Vestment of Olorime for Dungeons due to offering the same buff although shorter uptime and does provide you with Minor Aegis.

(Perfected) Precise Regeneration – An alternative set to aid your own Magicka Recovery in Dungeons. Not commonly used as it does not benefit your group. Unlike most other Restoration Staves, the best trait for this particular set is Precise.

Infallible Mage – Not as commonly used now as Wardens can easily apply Minor Vulnerability through a skill. Can be still useful in few situations that you have no Wardens in your group.

(Perfected) Timeless Blessing – A great alternative set to use on Healers as you are constantly using Combat Prayer to keep Minor Berserk on your group members. However, this set only benefits your own sustain.

Rotation

Healers do not typically follow a rotation except in long boss fights. During add pulls, you generally want to pre-buff and open with Area of Effect skills.
Below you will find a general guide for Dungeons.

Step 1:    Pre-buff the group with Radiating Regeneration and Combat Prayer then swap to your Lightning Staff and use Channeled Focus. If entering a boss fight and Aggressive Horn is up now is the time to use it! Make sure you and your Tank do not use this Ultimate at the same time as it is best alternated between the two of you!

Step 2:    Apply all Back Bar buffs and debuffs. This includes Elemental Blockade, Extended Ritual, and Elemental Drain on a few of the more threatening enemies. Now is also a great time to use Luminous Shards for some extra damage and group sustain before you swap bars.

Step 3:    Re-apply Combat Prayer if it is down, you want to ensure this skill remains up 100% of the time if possible. Use Illustrious Healing on the group for a great AoE HoT effect, and use Power of the Light on all threatening enemies so they die faster. On boss fights, make sure Power of the Light remains on the boss at all times At this point, providing your group with an Energy Orb to help them with their sustain.

Step 4:    If the add fight is taking a little longer, make sure Elemental Blockade, Illustrious Healing, Combat Prayer, and Radiating Regeneration remain active while also providing your group with Energy Orbs.

Notes

Breath of Life is not slotted due to most Dungeons not requiring a strong burst heal that Combat Prayer can not handle. If you are running something more strenuous on your groups Health, slot Breath of Life where Energy Orb is, and move Energy Orb to where Luminous Shards is.

During boss fights, keep Power of the Light and Elemental Drain on the boss at all times. Power of the Light debuffs the boss with Minor Fracture and Minor Breach while also offering a nice burst of damage after the effect ends. Elemental Drain debuffs the boss with Major Breach and Minor Magickasteal, providing your group with increased damage and Magicka sustain.
